At the international Decanter World Wine Awards 2024, the wines that win a Gold medal are re-tasted in a second round that distinguishes the best of the best, to whom a ‘Platinum’ medal is awarded. In this year’s edition, this distinction has been achieved by a cava, Núria Claverol Homenatge 2016 from Bodegues Sumarroca.
Bodegues Sumarroca is proud to announce that the cava Núria Claverol Homenatge 2016 has been awarded the prestigious ‘Platinum’ medal at the international Decanter World Wine Awards 2024. This cava has been the only one to receive this distinction in the current edition of the competition, with a score of 97.
The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) is globally recognized as one of the most influential and respected wine competitions. The wines that earn Gold medals undergo a second round of tasting to determine the best of the best, awarding the coveted ‘Platinum’ medal to those that stand out exceptionally.
The Núria Claverol Homenatge 2016 cava, made with 100% Xarel·lo by Bodegues Sumarroca, excelled in this rigorous evaluation, reaffirming its quality and excellence with a tasting note that describes it as: “Spectacular aromas of green apple, lemon, and quince with a toasted limestone touch that gracefully glides over the impeccable mousse and vibrant seam of acidity. Full of varietal charm and character, with plenty of life ahead.”
This recognition is not only an honor for the winery but also a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Bodegues Sumarroca team.
